Newington Girls' Swimming Sets New School Records at State Finals

Wednesday evening, the pool at Southern Connecticut State University was filled with excitement, particularly from the Newington Swimmers. Newington set two new school records, had one all-state recognition, and qualified 3 events at the State Opens on Saturday.
The Medley Relay record was set by Veronika Latawiec, Hannah Martin, Olivia Karanian, and Danielle Rocheleau with a time of 1:58.81.
The 200 Freestyle Relay record which was over 20 years old, was set by Hannah Martin, Allie Gratchev, Olivia Karanian, and Danielle Rochelau with a time of 1:43.18.
Danielle Rocheleau finished in 3rd place in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:00.39, earning her All-State Recognition.
The 200 Freestyle Relay as well as Danielle Rocheleau's 100 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke qualified to swim at the State Opens held at Yale this Saturday.
